Prepare GLB models and understand the production previews

Personalizer uses different previews for different manufacturing processes. Choosing the correct process helps customers understand what they are approving and gives staff the right source material for manual preparation. A convincing preview does not replace machine calibration or an actual material test.

Which file goes where?

Photos and artwork: JPEG or PNG. Use the image control in the visual editor. Transparent PNG preserves a cutout prepared in an image editor; JPEG is suitable for photographs. Changing an extension does not convert an image, and an image does not contain 3D geometry or printer toolpaths.

Merchant stock models and frames: supported GLB 2.0. Use the corresponding merchant GLB upload control, then enable the model for the product. Customers choose from the models the shop offers. A GLB preview supplies geometry; it is not a sliced filament job or a calibrated subsurface laser program.

Customer filament jobs: supported pre-sliced G-code or sliced 3MF. Use the separate filament upload-and-quote panel. A supported Bambu/Orca single-plate 3MF must contain actual G-code and reported material grams. The quote upload rejects unsliced STL/OBJ/model-only 3MF files. WordPress does not run a slicer.

1. Match the process to the physical result

Print represents full-color surface artwork or a photo product. 2D laser engraving represents a surface mark, where tone treatment helps show the intended engraving. Crystal represents internal light-scattering points inside a transparent blank. 3D printing represents a selected solid model on an illustrative build plate.

Surface engraving places artwork on the material. Check the composition in 3D studio and Flat layout; staff prepare the actual material settings and production file.

Select the matching Production type in the merchant template, then assign a compatible machine. The plugin does not infer material safety, power or speed from a photo, a model or the name of a machine profile.

2. Understand photos and mesh geometry inside crystal

A customer photograph becomes a flat internal artwork plane. It can be composed with other photographs and text, and the customer can orbit the surrounding crystal. That orbit does not create a hidden side view of a person or reconstruct a 3D portrait.

Use View product to turn the object, or choose Move, Rotate and Size to arrange selected artwork directly in the 3D studio.

A stock GLB contains actual mesh geometry. The crystal preview samples that geometry to show a point-like internal model. It does not create a calibrated manufacturing point cloud or a filled volume suitable for every subsurface laser. Staff must prepare the original model using the correct manufacturer workflow.

3. Export a supported stock model

Export a static GLB 2.0 file containing one scene and one embedded geometry buffer. Use triangle meshes with no animation, skinning or morph targets. Include resources inside the file and use an uncompressed export without GLB extensions or external URLs.

Keep the file under 10 MB and within your host’s upload limit. The current validator accepts up to 200,000 vertices and 200,000 triangles, 500 nodes and 100 meshes. Embedded textures must be PNG or JPEG, no more than four megapixels per image, with an eight-megapixel combined limit and no more than eight textures. Simpler models load more comfortably on customer phones.

For the engraving artwork and frame-model library, OBJ and STL require conversion to the supported GLB format in your modeling software. Check the export and retain the original working file. The separate filament panel accepts STL for local preview and the restricted Pro slicing workflow. A renamed file extension is not a conversion.

4. Upload and test the model offering

In the template’s Stock 3D models section, choose Upload GLB model. The plugin validates the file before offering it. Save the template, open the customer editor and select the new model. Inspect it from the front, back and sides, and test its scale and X, Y and Z placement plus tilt, turn and roll.

A 3D-print product starts from a model. Print supports, slicing and machine setup remain part of production.

For a 3D print product, choose a shop model before approval. Photo, text and material-reference controls are not a substitute for model geometry in that process. After changing processes, save a fresh design and check the controls and proof again.

5. Prepare the approved source for the actual machine

Download the protected production source pack for the paid order. Keep the original GLB and approved pose together. For filament printing, prepare the model in your normal slicer, choose the verified material and printer profile, add supports where required and review the toolpaths before manufacture.

For internal crystal engraving, use the supported preparation software for your actual equipment and confirm dimensions, density, depth and material calibration. Different laser technologies and machines have different workflows. The browser preview does not supply laser power settings, a machine-ready program or universal device compatibility.

Printer connections, live machine telemetry and customer webcams belong to the Pro roadmap. The restricted Help4WordPress preview offers merchant-confirmed runs and updating snapshots after setup; direct manufacturer integrations remain planned. Keep the customer-approved design available during the staff-controlled production handoff.

Pre-sliced filament jobs

Customers with a prepared filament job can upload supported sliced files, choose the shop’s material and request a quote based on grams and selling price per kilogram. Merchants configure custom materials, a safety allowance, weight rounding, setup fees and minimum charges. The original file stays private for review and manual fulfillment. WordPress does not run a slicer.

Open and rotate an STL before quoting

The optional Preview an STL model panel opens ASCII or binary STL files locally in the browser, up to 8 MiB and 100,000 triangles. Drag to rotate and use the zoom, reset and keyboard-accessible buttons. This local viewer sends no model to the server and does not attach it to an order. STL files do not declare units; the displayed dimensions are model units.

An STL describes geometry. Filament usage depends on the machine, nozzle, material, layer height, infill and supports chosen during slicing. Use a pre-sliced file for the free quote workflow, or the separate Pro slicing panel when this site offers an approved profile. A model-only 3MF is also not a sliced print job.
