A single value, a repeating row and a related record solve different jobs. Start with the information the editor needs to maintain.
- Single field: one service subtitle, date, price note or contact link.
- Repeater: specifications, FAQ rows or another repeating set.
- Relationship: connect a person, product or resource to another record.
- Media/gallery: keep image selection with the content owner.
Practical uses beyond a single page
A reusable content model makes it easier to keep a website consistent without forcing every page into identical copy.
- Products: maintain specifications and customer input separately.
- Staff: update factual titles, portraits and approved bios.
- Services: use a shared page design with service-specific details.
- Resources: connect a download to a useful explanatory page.
- Repeat lists without copying a layout for every row.
Test complete, empty and long values
The template should remain useful when optional information is missing. Test the data model and the page together.
- Save and reopen the content record.
- Add, reorder and remove repeatable rows.
- Check required values, URLs, dates and media.
- Test empty and long content on mobile.
- Verify private values are not exposed in public output.

Questions before you start
Are fields part of the free Builder?
Yes. The public Builder Suite includes its structured-field and dynamic-content tools. Custom data integrations and professional setup are separate services.
When should I use a repeater?
Use it for repeated rows of the same kind, such as specifications or FAQ entries. Use a relationship when the value should refer to another maintained record.
Will a field automatically appear on the website?
Do not assume that. Connect the approved field to the relevant template or widget and review the public output, including its fallback and permissions.
Can I use fields for customer product input?
Use the customer-field workflow for the configured Commerce product, then test validation, pricing where applicable, cart preservation and the final order record.
